Postgraduate Resources

Department work space and computer facilities

CERC has some office space and computer facilities available for postgraduate use. Please contact CERC for more information.

Full-time research-only postgraduate students may obtain a swipe card enabling after-hours access to CERC from the CERC office for a $10.00 deposit. The deposit is refunded when the card is returned to the office. Applications for swipe cards need the endorsement of the postgraduate student's supervisor.

CERC postgraduates receive regular e-mail updates on Europe-related events, scholarships and other related news via CERC's mailing list.

Resources

  • Postgraduates may obtain a PIN for the CERC photocopier. CERC students are entitled to some free photocopying; others pay 10 cents a page for photocopying.
  • Postgraduates may make and receive local telephone calls at CERC.
  • Pigeon holes for messages and mail are provided for postgraduates.
  • Postgraduates have access to the CERC kitchen, and use of the microwave, fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities.
  • All postgraduates are eligible for an e-mail account. Please contact ITS for details.
  • All postgraduates have access to the CERC library.
  • All postgraduates are given a password granting them access to the CERC database via the Web

CERC seminars and conferences

Postgraduates are strongly encouraged to attend CERC seminars, conferences and other events, which are advertised via the CERC mailing list and on CERC noticeboards.

Postgraduates are also encouraged to gain experience presenting their work to the CERC Seminar Series, and to submit their research in progress for publication in the CERC Working Paper series. In general, postgraduate involvement in the CERC research community is very welcome.

As part of it Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence activities CERC runs regular postgraduate conferences. Check out our conference home page and Postgraduate Projects page for details.

Postgraduates may also apply to become formally affiliated with CERC.

Social events

CERC aims to bring together postgraduates working on similar regions and themes in different departments and universities, and organises various social events to this end.

Sessional tutoring and lecturing

Tutoring available via CERC is extremely limited. Those interested in applying should contact A/Prof Philomena Murray , CERC Director, or their individual departments.
