The International Impact of the European Union in East Asia

Associate Professor Philomena Murray, Director of the Contemporary Europe Research Centre and CERC, the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence at the University of Melbourne, have been awarded a Jean Monnet research activity grant of 50,000 euro by the European Commission.

This Research Activity Project is on the International Impact of the European Union in East Asia. The project will consist of three activities:

• a research project and conference at the University of Melbourne in March 2008 - EU-Asia Relations: A Critical Review 27-28 March 2008;
• the publication of conference papers as a special issue of a journal titled Externalising Integration: The EU and Asia;
• and a Joint Workshop with the European Policy Centre in Brussels - New Horizons in EU-Asia relations.
