Postgraduate European Studies at University of Melbourne

The Contemporary Europe Research Centre is not teaching centre. However, it does provide support for both undergraduates and postgraduates at the university enrolled in European studies and related subjects. Students wishing to enrol in European studies subjects or courses can follow the links below to access subject lists and details on the European studies on offer at the University of Melbourne.

Students should also note that they can take advantage of the university's overseas exchange programs and partner institutions to both pursue study in Europe and/or European studies in European or other overseas institutions. More information below.

European Studies Options for Postgraduates

Work in European Studies at the University of Melbourne can be undertaken at number of postgraduate levels.

Courses on offer are:

CERC and the Student Body

Postgraduates, honours stream and intending honours students at the university are encouraged to participate in the CERC seminar series and in CERC conferences. Postgrads may apply for postgraduate associate status at the Centre. The University has a strong tradition of teaching European Studies in an interdisciplinary manner and CERC is the major hub for this. Resources available to students at Melbourne include the Know Europe and Lexis databases, the CERC database and CERC library as well as a wide range of publications relating to Europe purchased by the main University of Melbourne library.

Study Overseas as a University of Melbourne Student

The starting point for students wishing to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities Melbourne's programs for studying overseas offer is the Melbourne Abroad Program pages.

From here you can find information such as a list of institutions you can attend to take European studies or investigate possibilities for funding your overseas study.

Note that the university has partnership agreements with a large number of European academies in Europe. Countries where there are partners include: Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Full details are on the Partner List page.
