Jean Monnet Thesis Prizes 2008
Nominations
for the CERC Jean Monnet Thesis prizes for 2008 are now closed.
The Contemporary Europe Research Centre (CERC), University of Melbourne, Australia is pleased to announce its “Recognition of Excellence” awards for theses produced at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the field of the EU and European Integration Studies. This is a Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence initiative, funded by the CERC's Centre of Excellence grant from the European Commission.
Prizes
A prize of $200 will be awarded for up to two undergraduate (honours) theses and a prize of $400 will be awarded for up to two of the best postgraduate (Masters or PhD) theses judged by a panel of judges. It is expected that the theses make a significant and original contribution to European Studies and research.
Eligibility:
The thesis must have been examined in 2007or 2008 and must have been written by a student who was enrolled at a University in Australia. Only theses completed at Australian universities will be eligible for nomination. Previous applicants who were nominated for the 2007 Thesis Award are ineligible to apply again.
Condition of Award:
The winners of these Thesis Awards will be required to present a seminar or conference paper at CERC.
Nominations:
Nominations must be made by the thesis supervisor, with written agreement of the thesis-writer. Nominations must include the completed nomination form (see below), the recommendation of the supervisor (or head of Department or equivalent in case of unavailability of supervisor), with copies of the examiners' reports. In addition, a hardcopy (printed) version of the thesis and a PDF of the thesis, with an abstract of up to 500 words must be submitted. Students who believe that their work may be eligible are advised to approach their supervisor to secure a nomination.
