Jean Monnet Chair (ad personam)CERC Director, Associate Professor Philomena Murray, holds the only Jean Monnet Chair in Australia. From 2001 this Chair has been held through CERC. However, in July 2006 the European Commission also awarded A/Prof Murray a Jean Monnet Chair ad personam. Funds from this position will be used to continue supporting existing Jean Monnet activities and to create and publish new research. It will also support work furthering European Studies teaching in Australia and a new lecture series: the Spinelli Lecture Series on Visions of European Unity. Chair funds will also support the establishment of new teaching modules at the University. Funds from the Jean Monnet Chair have been used to provide speakers for CERC lectures and conferences, and support for publications. Visitors supported by this grant also frequently provide teaching and consultative sessions for students at the university.
