Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence

In 2004 CERC was awarded a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence award. This award has allowed CERC to embark on a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing the study of, and knowledge about, Europe in Australia.

The following areas are supported by Centre of Excellence funds:

• Jean Monnet Postgraduate Projects
• Directory of European Postgraduate Study in Australia (DEPSA)
• A postgraduate email bulletin, the Eurograd
• Awards and Grants (nominations Jean Monnet Thesis and Publishing Prizes now open!)

In addition to its own constitution as a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, CERC is also a partner of The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, Australasia.

Awarded in 2004 this trasnational centre is a Jean Monnet funded cooperative research association between four trans-Tasman universities.

The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, Australasia consists of:

• CERC at the University of Melbourne
• National Centre for Research on Europe at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand
• Lincoln University
• University of Auckland.

The grant also facilitates travel and cooperation between scholars and students of the four institutions through mobility scholarships.
