Martine Piquet has been a Professor at the Universite Paris IX-Dauphine since 1996. Previously she worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Universite de Cergy-Pontoise.
She received her doctorate from the Universite Paris XIII in 1987, after completing a thesis on the ethnological thought of Matthew Arnold. Since then she has specialised in Australian studies. In July-September 1999 Professor Piquet was a Visiting Professor at CERC, in a project sponsored by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the French Embassy (Canberra).
Professor Piquet is Vice-President of the Societe Francaise d'Etudes des Pays du Commonwealth. She is the founder and co-editor of two annual publications: Cultures of the Commonwealth, Essays and Studies (with Dr. Francine Tolron), and Les Cahiers du CICC - Serie Cultures des Pays du Commonwealth (with Dr. Gillian Porter-Ladousse).
