Lesleyanne Hawthorne is the Associate Dean (International) of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne, and Foundation Director of the Faculty International Unit. She is also a member of the CERC Advisory Board.
Her current research interests are in the field of global migration, particularly with regard to the processes and flows of skilled migration. In particular she is working on issues concerning the place of Australia in the international context of migration, and also the changes affecting different countries receptiveness and policy toward migration. Of late she has also switched more attention to the changing needs, and policies, of Europe towards migration.
A/Prof Hawthorne has been commissioned to conduct policy assessment for both the Australian and Canadian governments.
